Desigma
Independent, local-first Figma alternative written in Rust
Product Overview
Desigma is a free, open-source interface design tool built in Rust and distributed as a native desktop app for macOS, Windows, and Linux — no Electron, no WebView, no subscription. It is an independent, local-first alternative to Figma, currently in early alpha, offering frames, auto layout, components with variants, and prototyping with connectors, triggers, interactive components, Smart Animate, and variable-driven logic. Beyond static design, a beta Motion mode adds a timeline with keyframes, spring easing, and 41 animation presets exportable to GIF or WebM. Real-time collaboration (beta) works over end-to-end-encrypted P2P connections via iroh, so a share link lets people co-edit without any account. A Dev mode generates CSS, Tailwind, SwiftUI, Jetpack Compose, and React from designs, boards provide whiteboard staples like sticky notes and voting, and a Decks mode renders 16:9 presentations exportable to PDF. File compatibility is a first-class concern: Figma REST JSON and .fig files (including FigJam and Motion data) import alongside Pencil .pen files and SVG, while exports cover the native .desigma format, PNG, JPG, SVG, PDF, GIF, and WebM. The deterministic CPU renderer with a parallel tile cache keeps things fast, the codebase carries 1,600+ tests, and MCP tools expose the app to AI agents. The project is not affiliated with Figma.
